Hearty and flavorful traditional dishes

One lesser-known dish that may pique culinary curiosity is “Himmel und Erde” or “Heaven and Earth,” which is a dish made with mashed potatoes and apples, often served with sausages or blood sausage.

Beer is a significant part of German culinary tradition, with Germany being the largest producer of beer in Europe and the fifth largest in the world. Aside from beer, Germany is also known for its production of other alcoholic beverages. For example, Germany is famous for its wine, particularly in regions such as Mosel, Rheingau, and Baden. Spanning 16 to 18 days, typically running from mid or late-September to the first Sunday in October, this folk festival draws over six million visitors from around the globe each year.
